I entered a fashion competition at MIT, competing against other students at MIT and fashion designers around Boston. The challenge was to create looks from trash. Everything I used was trash or re-use. The headpiece was repurposed broken bracelets and necklaces. I used a Saks bag tie to lace the dress together and create a bra strap. The bodice was hand-carved from an old mattress foam pad. All (3,000+!) feathers were hand-cut from the school newspaper (trash), and dip died from free dyes from friends or other ingredients.
I won best craftsmanship!
Ellena P., the model, had a blast and was the perfect muse to bring this creation to life!
